breastfeeding in the day and bottle feeding at night ?

hi i have a 6 day old son who will only latch on to me if i use nipple shields as i have something called a flat nipple (this is what the midwife said) so to make sure he gets the best start i use nipple shields so at least he gets breast milk , but at night he is wakeing every hour for a feed and it takes an hour to feed him each time , i have 2 other young children to look after so i need some sleep at nights as iv only been getting about 3 hours a night and cant sleep in the day as i have the children to look after so last night i gave him a bottle before bed and he slept 4 hours and then i fed him a bottle again and he went another 4 hours and hes gone straight back on my breast this morning but my question is .. is this ok to do or shouldent i mix its only 2 bottles a night and he was so much more content and setled last night

the only problem with breast milk is it runs right through them. with formula its heavier and he feels more full and it doesnt run through him as fast. i think your doing a great job, just be sure to feed him breast in the morning and to pump the rest out, you will be engorged with milk. i breast feed both my girls and i loved the bond.

I did a combination of breast/formula for my 2nd and 3rd kids and they did fine. Sometimes I'd go to bed early and my hubby would get up and give them the 1st bottle so I could get some sleep. It worked out well for us.
