Is the death penalty justified for a 17 year old boy who rapes a 1 year old baby?

Is the death penalty justified for a 40 year old woman who kills her abusive husband? Is the death penalty ever justified for anyone? For who? And when?
a few hours before she murdered her husband in this sleep the woman had received a beating for disobeying her husband over the use of the phone. She had gotten other beatings before but had been led to believe she deserved them. This time she felt her husband went too far and was going to get even. Because her motive was revenge and because she killed him while her husband slept and thus was not defending herself was convicted of murder and hanged.

the boy suffered repeated physical and sexual abuse growing up. When arrested there were recent welts on his buttocks from a whipping his step father had given him. The baby was repeatedly raped and sodomized while in the care of the boy. He was convicted of aggravated rape of a child as well as other crimes and hanged.

castration won't prevent further assaults in many cases most cases because these type of assaults are based on power not sex
here is an alternative outcome. the boy was convicted of assorted crimes and committed to a special psychiatric prison to serve his sentence.

The woman was found not guilty as the jury after hearing expert testimony determined she had been acting in what she believed to be self defense.

The boy's step father was prosecuted for child abuse for the whipping the boy had received near the time he was arrested for the rape of the baby. His step father was given probation

Never justified for anybody. Murder is wrong in all forms, justified or not. It's a huge breach of human rights. Besides, sometimes they get it wrong. Imagine how it feels to be put to death knowing they got the wrong guy? Also, why should society stoop as low as a murderous criminal?

It doesn't matter how violated against or vengeful you feel, killing people is wrong, end of story.

Castrate the 17 year old boy so he never feels the need to rape anything again. The woman would probably get off on a plea of insanity, or manslaughter.
