Default Bereavement Counselling/Mental Health Issues?

My Relative lost their parent 2 year ago and it seemes to just be taking it tolls on them now and they keep saying i feel as if it has just hit me now
they also suffer from mental illness long before the bereavement and they have an app for bereavement / grief counselling this week and i was wondering if this would help and i was wondering if i should ask for a second opinion as the shrink they have doesnt seem to be connecting with my relative more less just saying get on with it
so i would be happy to hear what anyone thinks and any idea or hints on bereavement counselling and should i ask their shrink for more help etc

With any kind of counseling it's important the patient and doctor get along well. It doesn't sound like they do.

Grief counseling helps tremendously. A lot of people pick up and move on as if nothing extraordinary happened to them. On top of this most people aren't comfortable with grievers and say things like "life goes on" "you need to move on"... they think they're helping but all they're really doing is making what the griever feels "silly" so the griever pushes it all down and tries to ignore it.

This never works.
